UPLB inaugurates UHS ER extension facility

UPLB kicked off its 113th founding anniversary celebration with the inauguration of the new University Health Service (UHS) Emergency Room Extension Facility on March 4.

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands to the Philippines H.E. Saskia de Lang, together with UP President Danilo L. Concepcion and his wife, Atty. Ma. Gabriela “Gaby” Roldan-Concepcion, led the ribbon cutting.

Alongside were UPLB Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr., Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs Roberto P. Cereno, Vice Chancellor for Administration Rolando T. Bello, Faculty Regent Aimee Lynn Barrion-Dupo, Staff Regent Victoria C. Belegal, and UHS Director Jessie Imelda F. Walde.

The representatives of UPLB Class of 1971, headed by President Rosalina M. Lapitan, UPLB Alumni Association President Mauro W. Barradas, and Vice President Cristino M. Collado also joined to grace the launch.

A tour of the new facility, which is equipped with four hospital beds, two stretcher beds, two wheelchairs, an automated external defibrillator, and a cardiac monitor, immediately followed the opening.

With the new facility, UHS assures continuous delivery of utmost care and service to its constituents. Dr. Walde also emphasized that this 2022, UHS’ battle cry is Balik Biyaya sa Bayan.

We want a more decent facility to take care of our patient. This is very safe because the mechanism is like an isolation facility. It’s decent and the respect for patient-doctor interaction is there,” Dr. Walde added.

The legacy project was made possible through the collaboration among UPLB, UP Medical Alumni Society in America, UPLB Class of 1971, and UPLB Alumni Association.
