Occupational health and safety standards committee (OHSSC)








The university-level committee, composed of the chairs of the local OHSSCs of the colleges and units, ensures that UPLB is a safe and hazard-free work environment. It is tasked to:
- Study the working conditions in UPLB with particular attention to health and safety, and formulate standards that will provide safeguards to students and other constituents
- Look into matters of health and sanition on campus and immediate vicinity
- Study problems of environmental pollution in UPLB
- Bring to the attention of the UPLB administration other matters related to health and safety
Services
- Fire and earthquake drills and building safety inspections (in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office)
- Earthquake Landslie Search and Rescue Orientation Course (ELSAROC)
- Basic Occupational Health and Safety (BOSH) Training
- Philippine Red Cross (PRC) First Aid Training
- Electronic and hazardous waste collection and siaposal (E-Waste Project-ELBI with the UP Ecology and Systematics Major Students Society)
- Approval of the entry of garbage collectors on campus
- Molawin Creek Clean Up (during World Water Day)
- Monthly microbial analysis of water used on campus
