UHS-OVCCA holds ‘operation tuli’ as public service

The Nursing Service Department of the University Health Service-Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs (UHS-OVCCA) kicked off its annual Operation Tuli project this year on 26 March 2016.

Coming with their parents, young boys from nearby communities flocked into the Operating Room Department, as they bravely stepped into manhood. After the procedure, they left the room as young men.

The annual Operation Tuli project began in March 2002. But in 2010, the Nursing Service Department started to spearhead it, and from there on, it became a tradition.

An average of 250 boys avail of this service every year.

The UHS offers the service at a discounted rate, which is cheaper than that offered by private clinics and hospitals.
