UPLB shows support to Los Baños town at Bañamos Parade 2017

A delegation of 100 from UPLB, courtesy of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs (OVCCA), celebrated the town’s 402nd Foundation Anniversary by joining the civic parade that was part of the 16th Bañamos Festival on Sept. 15, 2017.

The UPLB contingent, led by Dr. Roberto G. Visco, assistant to the vice chancellor for community affairs, joined various groups that took part in the parade from Olivarez Plaza at 7 AM, traversed the national highway in Brgy. Anos, and culminating at the General Paciano Rizal Park in Brgy. Baybayin.

Chancellor Fernando C. Sanchez, Jr. issued Memorandum No. 2017-103 to encourage UPLB faculty and staff to participate in the parade. After the parade, Los Baños Mayor Caesar P. Perez conferred a certificate of appreciation to UPLB for its participation.

The Bañamos Festival is a yearly event spearheaded by the Los Baños Culture, History, Arts, and Tourism Office (LBCHATO) to celebrate the foundation anniversary of the Municipality, and to preserve and promote local culture. This year, the weeklong festivity was held on Sept. 12-17. The said date was declared as a special non-working holiday in Los Baños through Proclamation No. 292 from the Malacañang Palace. (Miguel Victor T. Durian)
