UPLB conducts mandatory drug test for employees

A total of 200 UPLB employees underwent mandatory drug test at the Obdulia F. Sison Hall on Friday, Jan. 27.

Initiated by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, the activity aligned with the campaign to maintain UPLB as a safe space.

The drug test was done pursuant to Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, mandating public officers and employees to undergo random drug tests to reduce the risks in government institutions and ensure a safe and healthy working environment.

In 2022, the Office of the Chancellor (OC) released OC Memorandum No. 029, series of 2022, detailing the guidelines for the mandatory drug tests based on the Civil Service Commission Memorandum Circular No. 13, s. 2017.

Similar to the previous batches, this year’s third batch of drug testing procedures was carried out by health personnel from the Makiling Medical Clinic and Diagnostic Center based on the protocols set by the Department of Health. (Roi Mojado)
