SSO welcomes new head

The UPLB Security and Safety Office (SSO), Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs (OVCCA) is now led by a new Officer-in-Charge (OIC).

In a turnover ceremony held on June 15 at the UPLB Executive House, Dr. Mark Dondi M. Arboleda was appointed as the new OIC of SSO effective June 16. He succeeded Atty. Aladdin P. Dominguita of the Office of the Chancellor, who served from March 1, 2022 to June 15, 2022.

Dr. Arboleda is an associate professor at the School of Environmental Science and Management, teaching topics related to aquatic ecology, water quality, and environmental impact assessment.

He has previously worked as a scientist and researcher at the UP Marine Science Institute, UP Natural Sciences Research Institute, and International Rice Research Institute.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology, major in Microbiology, from UPLB, and obtained his MS Microbiology and PhD Biology from UP Diliman.

Dr. Arboleda also currently chairs the UPLB Transport and Traffic Management Committee with members from OVCCA and SSO.

Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr., Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs Roberto P. Cereno, and Assistant to the Chancellor Eileen Lorena M. Mamino witnessed the official turnover between Atty. Dominguita and Dr. Arboleda.

It can be recalled that the former University Police Force was expanded to SSO to strengthen the security and safety in the campus. This was approved during the 1355th meeting of the UP Board of Regents on October 29, 2020. (Roi Mojado; Photos from OPR-OC)
