DLTB returns to UPLB

After more than four decades, the Delmonte Land Transport and Bus Company (DLTB Co.) will be returning to the UPLB campus to ferry passengers to and from Metro Manila.

Unknown to many, DLTB Co. or the BLTB Co. (Batangas Laguna Tayabas Bus Company Incorporated), as it was called during the days, used to have a loading and unloading station in the Forestry campus. In fact, the bus company still holds its original franchise from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board that follows the Forestry-Manila route until operations stopped in 1979.

Lolito E. Maderal, chief safety officer and Laguna area manager of DLTB Co., discussed the schedule of the bus trips with Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr. and Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs Roberto P. Cereno.

Beginning Oct. 17, Monday, DLTB Co. will be ferrying passengers from and to UPLB with the following route and schedule: 5:00 a.m. – UPLB to LRT Buendia and 6:00 p.m. – LRT Buendia to UPLB

Depending on the demand, additional departure times will eventually be scheduled. The bus will load and unload passengers near the UPLB main gate, opposite the College of Development Communication building.

This initiative is part of UPLB’s effort to facilitate mobility for its constituents and residents of nearby communities. (Roi Mojado)
